Case studies
Port of Felixstowe
Problem
There was no comprehensive asbestos register for
any of the buildings within the three main areas of
the port complex.
Solution
As part of a three year contract, we undertook type
2 asbestos surveys to all the port’s buildings.
The contract also covered annual reinspections, as
part of the active management of the asbestos-containing
materials (ACMs) we had located.
Result
The client now has a database containing all information
relating to ACMs, in a format that is both easily accessible
and understandable. They also know we are on hand to
advise and suggest solutions to any problems relating
to ACMs, should they occur.
In late 2007, the Port of Felixstowe asked our Survey
Department to undertake type 3 surveys to around 30
buildings, as part of their ongoing modernisation programme
at the port.
