Victoria Station

Problem

All asbestos within the station needs to be removed, to enable works for Victoria Station’s major redevelopment project.

Solution

The works to date have included removing asbestos tunnel linings from platforms, escalator shafts, passageways and concourse areas and the encapsulation of asbestos tunnel ring caulking. We’ve also undertaken leak sealing in the tunnels.

The works were undertaken predominantly during Victoria Line closure weekends, working round the clock.

Result

So far, we have successfully completed six of the nine possession weekends. All were undertaken without delay to service, or impacting the operation of the station. A 16-day closure is planned for this Christmas period, where we will be working 24hrs a day - including Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year.
